Dr. Babak Azizzadeh, President-Elect of the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) and Board Member of the California Society of Facial Plastic Surgery (CSFPS), is internationally recognized as a leading expert in facial aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. A Harvard-trained, double board-certified facial plastic surgeon and Clinical Chief of the Division of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery at Cedars-Sinai, Dr. Azizzadeh is renowned for his mastery of deep plane facelift, facial reanimation, and revision rhinoplasty procedures.
He pioneered selective neurolysis, a groundbreaking surgical technique that has transformed outcomes for patients with facial paralysis and synkinesis worldwide. Dr. Azizzadeh has authored more than a dozen major textbooks and over 100 peer-reviewed publications, and lectures globally to educate surgeons on advanced techniques in facial anatomy, rejuvenation, and nerve surgery.

Dr. Azizzadeh began his medical training at the UCLA School of Medicine, where he completed a six-year residency dedicated entirely to Head and Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic Surgery. Recognized for his surgical excellence, he was selected for a highly competitive sub-specialized fellowship in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Harvard Medical School, where he also served as a Clinical Instructor.
Following his tenure at Harvard, Dr. Azizzadeh returned to UCLA as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery and joined Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as an attending facial plastic surgeon. He currently serves as Co-Director of the AAFPRS Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship Program, training the next generation of leaders in deep plane facelift, facial reanimation, and revision rhinoplasty. He has personally trained and mentored more than 20 fellows and countless residents who now practice worldwide.
In addition, Dr. Azizzadeh co-founded the Multispecialty Aesthetic Clinical Research Organization (MACRO Trials), which provides end-to-end infrastructure for FDA-regulated clinical trials in facial rejuvenation, rhinoplasty, and regenerative aesthetics. He also serves as Co-Chair of Cedars-Sinai’s Annual Advances in Multispecialty Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Symposium and Co-Chair of the International Facial Nerve Symposium (IFNS)—two of the most respected international meetings in their respective fields. Through these platforms, Dr. Azizzadeh continues to educate surgeons globally on advanced techniques in facial nerve reanimation, selective neurolysis, and deep plane facelift surgery, bridging aesthetic artistry with scientific precision.
